M Henrietta

I took a trip over to the Bananas Foster CafĂ© after reading about the Green Eggs and Ham Benedict in the November, 2011 issue of Chicago Magazine. In fact, I salivated over the photo on page 75 on the way to the restaurant.

Closed – family problems- and not to open any time soon, so we took a detour around the corner to M Henrietta(1133 W Granville).

I ordered Fannie's killer fried egg sandwich: toasted sour boule layered w/ two over-medium organic eggs, applewood bacon, sliced plum tomatoes, gorgonzola, & fresh thyme and served with house potatoes.

What made the sandwich was the gorgonzola cheese.
I decided to recreate it the next morning changing up a few things.
I used different(and more) bread – a Rosemary sea salt instead of the sour boule and  a bit more gorgonzola. I also sliced fresh tomatoes really thin and used pancetta instead of bacon.
I have a question after all of this. Does breakfast just taste better at home?
Guess I need to stay home more often to find out.
Bon Appetit!
