The Artists of San Miguel

It seems like every day, there is another art opening here and practically everyone that I have met so far has ties to the arts. To say this is an artist’s town is an understatement.

The first event I attended was a walk for eleven artists in Colonia Guadalupe. Jewelry artist Karen Wright (www.karenwright.com) and beautiful rugs by Joy Wesson (www.joywesson.com) were some of the amazing creative talent in the show.

In fact, Karen’s work with hands reminded me a lot of my favorite Mexican jewelry master Sergio Bustamante (www.sergiobustamante.com.mx)

The second opening was at the beautiful Fabrica La Aurora, the city’s most exceptional environment for art and design that is housed in a former turn-of-the-century textile factory. (www.fabricalaaurora.com). Artist’s such as Dee Ropers works and teaches classes in this setting on collage and mixed medium.

I promise just coming here will give you the inspiration to create. It’s one of the most remarkable settings I’ve ever been in.

Anyone who loves art should experience San Miguel de Allende at least once. I’m glad that my time is now because I love to be around creative people.

They inspire me to do more both in and out of the kitchen.

Bon Appetit!
