Jello Shots

This Apple Pie Jelly Shot was prepared for SAVEUR by Michelle Palm of the blog Jelly Shot Test Kitchen.
Michelle’s jello shots are unqualified works of art. After trying this recipe, I also made cranberry jello shots with vodka. This may require a little bit of practice. Mine were more about flavor than art.

These shots will kick off a meal or you can serve them as an unpredicted side and put some surprising excitement into your dinner. Either way, I guarantee that they will generate a whole lot of conversation.

I liked them so much, I did several. Now I need to make a Bloody Mary jello shot to get my second wind.

Bon Appetit!

1 cup unsweetened apple juice

3 envelopes Knox gelatin

3/4 cup Tuaca liqueur

1/4 cup Berentzen

Apfel Korn liqueur (or apple schnapps)

Pour apple juice into a small saucepan and sprinkle with the gelatin. Allow the gelatin to soak for a minute or two. Heat over very low heat, stirring constantly, until gelatin is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Mixture will initially be very thick. Remove from heat.

Stir in the Tuaca and Apfel Korn.

Pour mixture into pan or molds and refrigerate until fully set, several hours or overnight.

To serve, cut into desired shapes or unmold.

Makes about 15 jelly shots.
