Cent'anni

Cent'anni at Canal 34 opened last weekend with a lot of fanfare. Got to admit that this branch of the famous Cent'anni in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City has not only a beautiful space here in San Miguel but the Italian food is the real deal.

I saw at least a dozen things on the menu that I have to try. Great service and a super friendly staff places this restaurant on the top of our got-to-love-it list.

A great Caramelized apple pizza, Minestrone soup and a beautiful Caprese salad proved just one thing...we're all going back again tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

Lavender...

Lavender grows abundantly in Mexico. Did you know it puts you in a drowsy state?

Smelling lavender makes you sleepy. Research shows that the scent lowers your heart rate and blood pressure, putting you in a very relaxed state.

To set yourself up for a good night’s sleep, put a handful of dried lavender next to your bed.

And I bet you thought only good tequila could do that?

Fat Tuesday is traditionally your last chance to binge on rich, fatty foods before the ritual fasting for the Lenten season.

Sounds like my kind of holiday. Bring it on and if you're in the mood to celebrate New Orleans style, go to Hank's...who also sponsors the Bullfight.

Does mini-sizing my favorite indulgence make me feel half as guilty about eating it?

Pass me the pint of ice cream and we’ll talk about it.

Best Taco in the World

Last year, leading global food bloggers, top chefs and food connoisseurs gathered in London for ‘The World’s Seven Tastiest Fast Feasts Awards’, an event sponsored by Chowzter, a web site and app dedicated to promoting ‘traditional fast food’.

And out of five nominations for best taco in the world the prize went to local restaurant Barbacoa Santiago in Querétaro.

The tacos at Barbacoa Santiago are so famous that people make the pilgrimage just for the experience.
