Bravo Cucina Italiana

At 1701 Maple Avenue in Evanston, this restaurant served a great Insalata Mista with field greens, bacon, tomatoes, Gorgonzola and balsamic vinaigrette for $4.99.

The Grilled Steak Flatbread was a disappointment however. The tenderloin served over arugula, with red onions, portobello mushrooms and Reggiano Parmesean cheese did not have it’s usual great flavor and had some unexplained red sauce spread over the base. Also, the toppings were not cooked. It was almost as if the chef was new and was not certain how Bravo’s great little pizzas are made. I make this recipe at home and it is always really good.

I’ll write it off to a learing curve and hope the pizza chef has it down the next time I am back for lunch.

Bon Appetit!
